Akhtamar Dance Group- where you'll find me every Thursday

This dance, Daroni, is from the region of Daron, near Van (where my grandfather was from). Daron was hit particularly hard during the genocide, with its six villages being destroyed. There's a unity amongst us as we dance this song. We're creating a defense by the way we are connected and by the movement of our palms, which represent a shield. We move our palms down and to the left, but look and step to the right. Armenian dances always move to the right, a sign of strength, progress, and celebration. Even if moves go to the left, they are more than compensated by the number of moves to the right.

p.s. is this song not amazing?
p.p.s. if i look confused, it's because i am. i was learning as we were going along. lol
